Installation & Safety - Care & Maintenance

At FlowForm, we want to ensure that your lamp remains a beautiful and functional part of your space for years to come. Below are the guidelines for the proper care, installation, and safety of your product.

Installation Instructions

Preparing for Installation:

  • Before starting, ensure that all parts are in good condition and ready for use.
  • For safety, always handle your lamp with care during installation.

For Lamps with an On/Off Switch:

  • Simply plug the lamp into a standard electrical outlet, and use the switch to control power.

Pendant Lamp Installation:

  • Weight Considerations: When installing a pendant lamp, ensure that the weight of the lamp is compatible with the canopy, light track, or ceiling fixture you plan to use. This ensures secure installation and avoids damage to the lamp or mounting system.
  • Ensure that the hanging fixture is securely attached to the ceiling with the appropriate hardware for your space.
  • If you’re unsure about the installation, we recommend consulting a professional electrician for safety.

Hanging Pendant Lamps:

  • Ensure that the suspension cord is properly adjusted to the desired length.
  • Avoid hanging the lamp in areas with high humidity (such as bathrooms) to prevent potential damage.
  • No canopy option: Our pendant lamps do not include a canopy. Please ensure that you purchase a suitable canopy for your space, or use a compatible light track system for installation.

Smart Lamp Setup:

  • Follow the included instructions for syncing the smart bulb with your phone or smart home system.
  • Use the remote or app to adjust the settings to your preference. (Light Intensity, Color Temperature and On/Off.)
  • Guide Coming Soon: A video guide for setting up and using the smart remote will be available shortly.

Safety

Electrical Safety:

  • Always use LED bulbs only, with a maximum of 8W, 50-60Hz, 220-240V, and the correct socket type for your lamp.
  • Never use the smart bulb with external dimmers, as they are not designed for this and may be damaged.
  • Never cover the lamp or cord with fabrics or materials that could overheat.
  • All lamps are IP20 rated and double insulated Class 2 luminaries.

Smart Bulb Usage:

  • Smart bulbs are designed for indoor use only. Ensure the bulb and lamp are placed in an area that avoids moisture and humidity.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the smart bulb or expose it to liquids.
  • Smart bulbs must not be used with external dimmers, as this can cause malfunction or damage.

Fire Safety:

  • Always switch off and unplug the lamp before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
  • If you notice any irregularities, such as flickering lights or unusual smells, unplug the lamp immediately and inspect the bulb and socket for damage.
  • Keep lamps away from flammable materials.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning Your Lamp:

  • For PLA bio-polymer lamps (Flume, Arc, Myco etc.):
    • Dust with a soft, dry cloth to avoid scratches.
    • For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth (microfiber) and wipe gently. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the surface.
    • Keep the lamp away from excessive moisture to prevent warping.
    • Avoid hot environments: PLA can warp or deform under high temperatures, so it’s best to avoid placing your lamp in areas exposed to high heat, such as near radiators, stoves, or in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

Wood Bio-Polymer (for Bloom etc.):

  • Gently wipe wooden parts with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
  • Avoid soaking the wood to preserve its natural finish.
  • Handle with clean, dry hands to prevent transferring oils or dirt, as oily fingers can leave marks on the wood and affect its natural appearance.
  • The printed wood finish is designed to be durable but should be handled with care to preserve its quality. Gentle handling will help maintain its appearance without compromising its strength.

Maintaining the Bulb:

  • Smart Bulbs (for Flume, Arc, Myco etc.):
    • Before first use: During shipping, the bulb may have slightly unscrewed from the socket. Be sure to check the bulb’s fit before using the lamp. Ensure the bulb is securely screwed in to guarantee proper operation.
    • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the bulb to prevent dust buildup.
    • If the bulb is dimming or flickering, consider replacing it, as this may indicate it’s nearing the end of its lifespan.
    • If the glass on the bulb breaks: The bulb should not be used. Please contact us immediately for assistance or to arrange a replacement.
  •

General Tips:

  • Avoid placing your lamp in direct sunlight for extended periods, as prolonged exposure may cause fading or warping, especially with PLA-based products.
  • Always check the lamp for loose parts after moving it or adjusting its position.
